When do we play

At the Blue Mountains Bridge Club, we play 5 times a week.
Our Session Times are

  • Monday 6:45 PM Duplicate
  • Tuesday 1:00 PM Duplicate No partner required
  • Thursday 1:00 PM Duplicate
  • Friday 1:00 PM Duplicate No partner required
  • Saturday 1:00 PM Duplicate
Please arrive 15 minutes before session start. The Tuesday and Friday afternoon sessions are walk-in - we will do our best to find you a partner. Guests are always welcome - although we appreciate a call to let us know you're coming. Our Tuesday and Friday sessions are a social event - it's often a good place to start if you are new to the game. Our Monday, Thursday and Saturday sessions are for the more experienced players, all are very welcome.

Playing

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the session start times. This helps the director set up the session and ensures a prompt start.

Becoming a Member

Membership of the club is $35 annually. Download and complete the membership application and then email it to admin@bluemountainsbridge.com.au.

Learning Bridge

If you're keen to learn to play, or need a refresher, give one of our committee members a call and we can provide some pointers. Blue Mountains Congress

The Blue Mountains holds its annual Congress on the first weekend of September. It is a popular event that always gets booked out well in advance.
The Swiss Pairs will be held on Saturday September 1, 2018 10:00 AM - 42 tables.
Teams will be held on Sunday September 2, 2018 10:00 AM - 40 tables

Ed Barnes will again be our Director

  • The Congress is held at the Blackheath Community Centre. It is on Great Western Highway between Gardiner Crescent and Hat Hill Rd
  • Please arrive by 9:15 for registration and a welcome tea and scones.
  • Lunch is included in the entry fee; Bygone Beautys always provides a great spread. Please advise of any special requirements at least a week prior.
  • Play is expected to finish by 5PM.

Lesson Schedule

We are currently holding lessons for Beginners and Improving players at our club rooms in Leura on Thursdays and Fridays. Lessons are $10 each - please pay your teacher.

Please get in touch if you'd like to learn bridge - your first lesson is complimentary. We have a friendly and experienced teacher who will teach at a pace that suits all.

ETIQUETTE and BEHAVIOUR EXPECTED AT THE TABLE

"Bridge is for fun. You should play the game for no other reason." Charles Goren.

Every player is expected to:

  • Be courteous and welcoming to opponents prior to start of play
  • Try to make bridge enjoyable for yourself, partner and your opponents
  • Credit where credit is due when opponents make a good bid or play
  • The Director appreciates a “thank you”
  • Be polite when responding to questions on systems

It is unacceptable to:

  • Criticise partner, opponents or Director
  • Be rude, insinuate or badger partner, opponents or Director
  • Make negative comments concerning other players’ play or bidding
  • Discuss hands after the round is called
  • Gloat over good results
  • Object to a call for the Director
  • Dispute a Director’s ruling

It is acceptable for you to call Director immediately when unacceptable behaviour occurs to indicate that a player is interfering with your enjoyment of the game (Breach of Law 74A)

Other great places to play bridge in the Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains is a great place to play bridge. There are clubs in Blackheath, Springwood, Glenbrook as well as Bathurst, Hawkesbury, Windsor and Penrith.

  • Blackheath plays at 9:30 on Monday mornings at the Golf Club - Contact Ross on 4787 5589 or 0400 356 824 or rhingram@bigpond.com.
  • Springwood plays Mondays and Saturdays from 12:45-4.00pm and on Thursday night from 6:45-10pm at the Uniting Church Hall, Lewin Street, Springwood
  • Windsor plays at Richmond Neighbourhood Centre on Tuesday evenings, Friday mornings, and Saturday afternoons
  • Penrith plays 10am Monday mornings at 86 Station St PENRITH

  • Glenbrook Bridge Club at St Finbar's Catholic Church (church hall), 46 Levy Street Glenbrook on Wednesday evenings at 6.45 pm for a 7.00 pm start, Thursday afternoons at 1.15 pm for a 1.30 pm start and on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 1.15 pm for a 1.30 pm start
  • Hawkesbury has daytime sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in North Richmond.
  • Bathurst holds sessions in Mitre St most days and also Wednesday evening.
