When do we play

At the Blue Mountains Bridge Club, we play 5 times a week.


Our Session Times are
  • Monday 6:00 PM Duplicate
  • Tuesday 1:00 PM Duplicate
  • Thursday 1:00 PM Duplicate
  • Friday 1:00 PM Duplicate No partner required
  • Saturday 1:00 PM Duplicate

Please arrive 15 minutes before session start (i.e. 12:45).

The Friday afternoon session is a walk-in - we will do our best to find you a partner. It is also a social event and it's often a good place to start if you are new to the game.

Playing

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the session start times. This helps the director set up the session and ensures a prompt start.
Arrive by 12:45PM for afternoon sessions and 5:45PM for evening sessions.

Becoming a Member

Full Membership of the club is $40 annually.
Associate Membership of the club is $18 annually.

Lessons

New to Bridge or Refreshers: Learn to play the wonderful game of Bridge. Make new friends and enjoy new challenges. A course of 8 weekly classes commences on 28th February 2024. Beyond that there will be practice sessions, individual support & potentially a "buddy", all in a very friendly social atmosphere, to prepare you for our regular bridge sessions.

Blue Mountains Congress

The 2023 Blue Mountains Congress will not be held due to COVID 19 concerns.

ETIQUETTE and BEHAVIOUR EXPECTED AT THE TABLE

Every player is expected to:

  • Be courteous and welcoming to opponents prior to start of play
  • Try to make bridge enjoyable for yourself, partner and your opponents
  • Credit where credit is due when opponents make a good bid or play
  • The Director appreciates a “thank you”
  • Be polite when responding to questions on systems

It is unacceptable to:

  • Criticise partner, opponents or Director
  • Be rude, insinuate or badger partner, opponents or Director
  • Make negative comments concerning other players’ play or bidding
  • Discuss hands after the round is called
  • Gloat over good results
  • Object to a call for the Director
  • Dispute a Director’s ruling

It is acceptable for you to call Director immediately when unacceptable behaviour occurs to indicate that a player is interfering with your enjoyment of the game (Breach of Law 74A)

Other great places to play bridge in the Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains is a great place to play bridge. There are clubs in Blackheath, Springwood, Glenbrook as well as Bathurst, Hawkesbury and Windsor.

  • Blackheath plays at 9:30 on Monday mornings at the Catholic Church Hall - Contact Ross on 4787 5589 or 0400 356 824 or rhingram@bigpond.com.
  • Springwood plays Monday, Thursday and Saturday at the Uniting Church Hall, Lewin Street, Springwood
  • Glenbrook plays Wednesday, Thursday & 3rd Sunday of the month at St Finbar's Catholic Church (church hall), 46 Levy Street Glenbrook
  • Bathurst holds sessions in Mitre St most days and also Wednesday evening.
  • Hawkesbury has daytime sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in North Richmond.
  • Windsor plays at Richmond Neighbourhood Centre on Tuesday evenings, Friday mornings, and Saturday afternoons
